People planning to take part in the March for Our Lives demonstrations across the country Saturday might be able to get a free lift to the rally sites if they act fast.
Actually, they might be able to get a free Lyft.
The popular San Francisco-based ride-hailing app is offering free rides to demonstrators in 50 U.S. cities hosting March for Our Lives events, including San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco.
For a second time in as many weeks, student activists and gun-control advocates from the Bay Area to the nation’s capital will march and demonstrate Saturday to demand stricter firearm laws in the wake of last month’s deadly Parkland, Fla., high school shooting.
Lyft is offering the free rides up to $1.5 million, with a max cost of $15 apiece, which amounts to 100,000 rides.
To be eligible, prospective marchers must RSVP at the March for Our Lives website, and will receive promotional ride codes on Friday. On Saturday morning, any available ride codes will be posted at Lyft’s blog page for the event.
